Stand against family violence service cuts

Prime Minister Abbott has declared that he is committed to the elimination of violence against women in this country. But more than 50 services that provide critical support to survivors of family violence will be forced to cut staff, slash programs, or even close entirely from next month, because of cuts made by the federal government.1

The Prime Minister has announced that he will be putting the issue of family violence on the agenda of the Council of Australian Governments for discussion,2 which is important -- but stands in stark contrast to cuts to services which support women trying to escape abusive relationships.

It's time all Australian Governments committed the financial resources needed to address the epidemic of family violence in our country. Reinstating federal funding that has been stripped from survivor services is a critical starting point.

Australian of the Year Rosie Batty is calling on the Prime Minister to reverse these cuts to family violence services. Can you help amplify her message, by calling on the federal government to reverse these devastating cuts before they start to take effect on the 28th of February?
